Thick bass leads

The signature Bodzin synth is here, sampled from some antique Moog synthesizers. And while nothing behaves like a real analog synthesizer, Ableton lets you get pretty close. This bass twists and bends and almost as good as the real thing.

Preprocessed for your pleasure

You’re a music maker. Naturally you want to make your own music. That’s why these aren’t pre-made loops. They’re samples. And they’ve been pre-processed so you can load them up and start making. Very little if any processing is needed. Unless of course you want to!

The Bodsynth

No Bodzin track would be complete without the raw energy of a massive analog bass lead roiling up from within. It’s the hallmark of his sound, which manages being both rough and emotive at the same time. When the filter opens, energy pours out taking listeners on an unforgettable journey. Naturally, if it’s a Bodzin Style Pack, it has to have that sound. Enter the Bodsynth. It’s got three separate oscillators with five complete frequency ranges of pure analog glory, sampled directly from a vintage 1976 Minimoog and run through a filter. All that, packaged into a playable instrument built from Ableton Live instrument racks. Don’t let the image fool you. The Bodsynth is a beast and it lives up to the legend.

Live Waveform and Range Switching

You want tracks to feel alive. To change as they go, pushing and pulling the sound to its limits within the song. The Bodsynth let’s you easily make those changes on the fly. Dial in virtually every big synth lead you’ve ever heard. There’s no need to wait for the next key press or MIDI note. Like the real Moog this was sampled from, all you have to do is turn a knob.

Pitch Bend Trick

Analog synths are simple, easy to use and intuitive. Sampling an analog synth and porting it over to the digital domain is tough. You don’t always have the options you need to make it 100% accurate. The Bodsynth is a damn fine effort, but Live’s sampler doesn’t feature smooth pitch changes. Bodzin tracks do. Fortunately, he usually pitches just a single oscillator at a time. By enabling pitch bend on just one of the Bodynth’s oscillators patches that hole and makes for a beautifully smooth style emulation.

Endlessly Playable

Standing out means making something yourself. Pre-recorded loop packs are a fine idea, but at the end of the day if you’re using them, you aren’t really making the music. Not all of it anyway. That’s why Style Packs are built to be playable. Not pre-recorded. The Bodsynth is no exception. It has tons of samples configured in a complicated array and boiled down to just a couple sets of macro knobs. So you can make what you like.

Drum Racks

Because Style Packs are made for Ableton Live, they come with Drum Racks pre-loaded and ready to play with the sounds that define the style. In this case, simple drums for simple beats. Refined, yet restrained so they don’t stand in the way of the melodies.

Beautiful Background Layers

There’s something enigmatic about the background synth. Ever present, unchanging and hypnotic. They draw us in and hold everything together. Every Bodzin track features a beautiful background synth. Naturally there are a few stand outs included in the Style Pack.

Noise Percussion

Anyone who’s ever cozied up to a vintage analog monosynth knows the noise switch all to well. It can add texture to a sound but it can also stand all on its own. Gated and filtered noise is perfect for making percussion sounds and Bodzin knows best. Many of his tracks have rhythmic elements made from noise. You’ll find a couple recreations here.

The God Chord

Leonard Cohen sang of a mysterious chord that David played and that pleased the lord… I don’t know what that chord would have sounded like, but I bet it wasn’t far from this thing. It’s rich. Harmonic. Complex. And included. Not to mention endlessly playable.
